The Asembo Bay Experimental Farm Project
Farming can be done 12 months a year in the Kenyan climate. We teach how to take advantage of that.
In the Experimental Farm Project, we teach participants how to plant, farm, irrigate, and more. We provide banana plants, papaya, sweet potatoes, and other food plants to vary the crops traditionally grown in the area — which are mostly maize and kale.
Farming can be done 12 months a year in the Kenyan climate. Teaching people to vary their crops alongside modern farming methods helps increase food supply and enrich diets.
In all our programs, we teach the groups how to manage their earnings — opening their own bank accounts, managing income and expenses, and planning for the next season.
